Memphis Brooks Museum of Art

Founded in 1916, the Brooks Museum is the oldest and largest fine arts museum in the state of Tennessee. Housed in part in its original Beaux-Arts style building-a registered U.S. National Landmark-the museum's facilities include a research library, a print study room, a museum store, and a restaurant. The Brooks has one of the most outstanding collections in the southeast, dating from antiquity to the present. Strengths of the collection include Italian Renaissance and Baroque paintings and sculpture, principally gifts from the Samuel H. Kress Foundation; English portraits; European and American paintings, sculpture and decorative arts, and a significant collection of works on paper.
